Barrett M82.50cal. Sniper Rifle[]
Barrett Firearms Manufacturing was founded by Ronnie Barrett for the single purpose of building semi-automatic rifles chambered with the powerful 12.7×99mm NATO (.50 BMG), or 50cal. as the community calls it, ammunition, originally developed for and used in M2 Browning machine guns. It is fed by a 10 round magazine while, as said before, being chambered with a powerful .50 BMG round that is cpable of penetrating thing armor, or even thick armor with incendiary ammunition. Barrett began his work in the early 1980s and the first working rifles were available in 1982, hence the designation M82. Barrett designed every single part of the weapon personally and then went on to market the weapon and mass produce it out of his own pocket. He continued to develop his rifle through the 1980s, and developed the improved M82A1 rifle by 1986. This iconic sniper rifle is in service with many countries around the world.
Usage in the Call of Duty games[]
The Barrett .50cal is a semi-automatic sniper rifle seen in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3. In performance, this weapon basically performs the same in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 whereas it has high power, very high recoil and sway, and slow movement speed. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, however, the Barrett has changed. This time it has a different sound, very slow Light Machine Gun-like movement, lower sway, and the recoil has been drastically lowered.
