The Dragunov sniper rifle (formally Russian: Снайперская винтовка Драгунова, Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova (SVD), literally "Dragunov's sniper rifle") is a semi-automatic sniper rifle chambered with the Russian 7.62x54mmR and developed in the Soviet Union.

Usage in the Call of Duty games[]

The Dragunov is a semi-automatic Russian sniper rifle featured in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Singleplayer[]

In single-player, the Dragunov is used by the Ultranationalists, Loyalists, and OpFor. It is the most frequent sniper rifle and is used in most levels. Unlike the multiplayer counterpart, the Dragunov in single player has virtually no recoil at all, but has a fire rate cap whereas the multiplayer variant can be fired as fast as desired. It can also be found in the Spec Ops missions 'Estate Takedown' on any difficulty and 'Hidden' on veteran. In Black Ops it is found only in "Numbers," mostly with an IR sight.

Multiplayer[]

In Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, it is a unqiue sniper rifle, as it is not affected by stopping power at all. It has unpredictible recoil, a 10 round magazine and does not require stopping power(as it is not affected by it, which is stated above). This makes it popular among expierienced players. It is not included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer but included in it's single-player campaign. In Call of Duty: Black Ops it is in the default sniper class and only kills in one shot if it is to the head.
