The L118A is a bolt-action that appears in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as one of two bolt action sniper rifles. It does not make an appearance in campaign but exclusively appears in Multiplayer and Surivival mode.
Multiplayer[]
The L118A is usually a partially good choice of weapon when you want to snipe during a game. This sniper rifle delivers but when compared to the Barrett 50cal, it seems like a very bland choice, but if you know how to play with this particular weapon, then you can expext yourself to do very well.
And fortunately for the "quickscopers", this sniper rifle is excellent when fitted with the right perks to make it a "quickscoping gun". Unlike the MSR, which seems like the quickscoping weapon of choice, it is unlocked much earlier and has lower recoil while a faster scope-in aswell.
Although this weapon seems great, it has it's flaws and negatives. First off, it has a pretty slow reload compared to other sniper rifles(even with sleight of hand), and, second off, it has a slow rate of rifle due to it's bolt-action mechanism.
Survival Mode[]
The L118 is available in Survival Mode at level 35 for $2000. It is advised not to use as the L118A(even on the early rounds) rarely kills in one shot and barely reliable in the higher rounds. The weapon is best suited for long-range engagements as it performs horribally in close-quarters combat.
