Kar98k (Karabiner 98k)[]

The Karabiner 98 Kurz (often abbreviated Kar98k, K98, or K98k) was a bolt-action rifle adopted as the standard infantry rifle in 1935 by the German Wehrmacht, and was one of the final developments in the long line of Mauser military rifles.

Usage in the Call of Duty games[]

The Kar98k rifle is the German Wehrmacht's main weapon of choice in the series, and is therefore seen more often than most other German weapons. It is a quite powerful and accurate weapon, capable of killing an enemy soldier in just one shot. However, it has a very slow rate of fire due to its bolt-action mechanism, which is why one would want either a pistol, semi-automatic rifle, or other weapon to back up the Kar98k in a tight space or in a fight at close range. It is more common than the Allied Powers' weapons, and therefore can be a good replacement for weapons like the Red Army's Mosin-Nagant, the British Army's Lee-Enfield, or the American Army's M1 Garand. It is best used for a medium to long range style of offense, as it is not a very effective weapon in close-range, mainly due to the fact that the process of having to pull the bolt could get the user killed in a CQC battle. The Germans' sniper rifle of choice is a scoped Kar98k.
